How to evaluate this requirement
Before the session, prepare a small representative data set with shipment dates, origin and destination, packaged dimensions, weight, class, required services and current carrier arrangements. Remove unnecessary personal information. Include an ordinary shipment and an exception that creates work today. Give the presenters the acceptance criteria, then reserve time for your team to change an input during the demonstration.
At the comparison stage, ask presenters to identify each source, the account under which the quote is valid, the service offered and the complete amount. Record whether the shown configuration uses existing contracts, direct-carrier dynamic options, spot offers or national 3PL arrangements. A blank category should prompt a coverage question; a broad carrier count does not answer it.
Follow the chosen offer into confirmation, documentation, status updates and invoice review. Ask what happens when a connection fails, an invoice differs or an operator overrides a recommendation. Check role permissions, approval history, export formats, support ownership and the route for correcting bad source data. Observe the workflow your staff will actually use.
Finish with two written outputs: a scope list and an acceptance sheet. The scope list names included integrations, modes, services and reporting. The acceptance sheet identifies a measurable result, the evidence required and the responsible person. Request a profile-analysis example that reconciles to its underlying shipments. Schedule the buying decision after unresolved questions receive concrete answers rather than treating an attractive demo as completed implementation diligence.
